Each day, Assurant employees worldwide bring the company culture to life with their collaborative spirit and commitment to protect the things that matter most. But at Assurant’s Argentina, Mexico and Puerto Rico offices, culture is more than a word.

It’s a feeling created through respect, collaboration and Assurant values—Common Sense, Common Decency, Uncommon Thinking and Uncommon Results-- that’s resulted in all three sites being recognized as outstanding places to work.

For the fourth year in a row, both Assurant Argentina and Assurant Mexico have been named top performers by Great Place to Work, a global authority on high-trust, high-performance workplace cultures.

Not to be outdone, Assurant Puerto Rico has been hailed as a Best Place to Work by AON Hewitt and El Nuevo Dia, one of Puerto Rico’s leading newspapers. The award recognizes best practices in human resources, organizational culture and employee engagement.

“It’s wonderful to consistently win awards, but it’s more important to build a culture in which employees and clients both feel valued,” said Federico Bunge, regional president for Spanish Latin America at Assurant Solutions. “We want to inspire employees to do their best and, to accomplish that, we provide them with opportunities to succeed. When you feel supported and are happy in your work, you excel at serving your customers.”

At Assurant Mexico, there is a culture of fellowship and friendship, fostered by celebrating milestones such as birthdays, anniversaries and honoring national traditions. In September, employees enjoy Mexico’s Independence Day, celebrating with music and traditional dishes.

At Assurant Puerto Rico, many workers are longtime employees, serving an average of 12 years. The organization offers mentoring and coaching programs to embrace newcomers and prepare potential new leaders, and holds teambuilding exercises like scavenger hunts.

There’s also a commitment to social responsibility, with employees joining in fundraising activities to support Make-a–Wish® and other local charities.

At Assurant Argentina, work-life balance means one work-at-home day each week, in-house yoga lessons and Health Week, which focuses on healthful activities and food choices.

Volunteerism also is ingrained in the culture, as employees throughout the organization team up to support charities through its social responsibility team. Internally, colleagues support one another through a program that allows people to recognize co-workers who go the extra mile.

“A collaborative culture requires constant effort,” Bunge said. “Every day, our employees work together to do and be their best.”
