Assurant in action: helping rebuild after the Texas floods

At Assurant, we believe material support is vital for helping our local communities thrive, and that’s especially true in times of urgent need. That’s why, when Texas experienced some of the most severe flooding it’s seen in years, we stepped up to provide immediate support. Here are a few ways we’ve been helping the affected communities in central Texas. 

American Red Cross Disaster Responder Program

As a member of the ARC Disaster Responder Program, Assurant provides year-round financial support, enabling the ARC to respond immediately to crises throughout the country. In the wake of the Texas floods, the ARC established emergency shelters that offered hot meals, relief supplies, and financial and family travel assistance to affected communities.  

Charitable contributions to support local disaster relief

Assurant contributed $50,000 to aid in recovery efforts, with donations directed to two local nonprofit organizations.

• Texas Search and Rescue, a first responder organization providing flood rescue, aerial search, and many other urgent disaster relief services
• The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country’s Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, which directly distributes funds to local efforts focused on rescue, relief, and recovery services; flood assistance; and helping local communities rebuild

Employee donation matching in August

The Assurant Foundation launched a two-to-one employee gift matching opportunity on the Assurant Cares portal to increase support for vital Texas charities and continue to assist those affected by the deadly floods. Throughout August, Assurant employees were given the opportunity to double their impact when they donated to the following charities.

• Assurant Cares Employee Support Fund
• Texas Search and Rescue
• The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country
