Grants to Habitat for Humanity, Military Warriors, Rebuilding Together Announced at MBA Servicing Conference

 

DALLAS, Feb. 15, 2017Assurant is partnering with three nonprofits serving greater Dallas – Habitat for Humanity, Military Warriors Support Foundation and Rebuilding Together – to provide decent housing and home repair to veterans, low-income families, people with disabilities and the elderly in the Dallas area.

The Assurant Foundation, charitable arm of Assurant, announced $40,000 in grants Tuesday at the Mortgage Bankers Association servicing conference in Dallas: $15,000 to Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity, $15,000 to Rebuilding Together Greater Dallas, and $10,000 to Military Warriors Support Foundation.

“Caring for communities is firmly rooted in Assurant’s DNA, and we are proud to partner with these organizations to make home ownership more accessible for Dallas families,” said Dan Hoppes, senior vice president, Mortgage Solutions, a business line of Assurant.

The three organizations were chosen as part of the Assurant Foundation’s ongoing focus on access to affordable housing.

Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity has served more than 1,600 low-income families since 1986 and has invested more than $150 million dollars in 25 Dallas county neighborhoods.

Military Warriors Support Foundation enables veteran families to achieve home ownership by providing programs that facilitate a smooth and successful transition from active duty. MWSF has awarded more than 750 mortgage-free homes to combat-wounded veterans and their families.

Rebuilding Together Greater Dallas aims to improve the quality of life for homeowners in need by providing repair services to homes and neighborhoods.  The group has repaired or rebuilt more than 400 homes with the help of more than 14,000 volunteers.
