Assurant in the Community

The Assurant companies have deep roots in diverse communities across the United States and abroad. Through participation in community-based programs such as sponsorships, donations and employee volunteer programs, we work to fight illness and disease, promote education, aid and protect children, and prevent hunger and homelessness.

We encourage our employees to give back to their communities and commend those who actively take time to assist and support those around them. Our commitment to serving local communities in America goes back over 100 years. That tradition continues today – each and every day.

Across America -- from our headquarters in New York City to our offices in Boise, Idaho, the Assurant companies provide support in their communities through a variety of different programs that reflect the diversity and needs of their local communities.

Strengthening our Community – 2007

Promoting Education and Providing Tools of Learning
Assurant has been a long time supporter of educational endeavors, through volunteer programs and grants. Providing grants to organizations such as UNICEF has given us the opportunity to strengthen our commitment to education.

Fighting Childhood Hunger
Assurant employees across the U.S. participated in the second annual Great American Bake Sale, a national fundraising initiative with Share Our Strength, to fight childhood hunger. Assurant raised over $17,000 in 2007 including the company’s matching dollars. All proceeds were distributed to local anti-hunger organizations across America.

United Way
Assurant’s businesses continued their commitments to the United Way in 2007. Employees nationwide participated in a variety of fundraising activities to support the many action areas that the United Way funds. Assurant employees reached a combined nationwide donation total of nearly $2 million.
