How do I file a claim?

In order to file a claim, please call the phone number listed on your policy/contract. Before filing a claim, please be sure to have the following information available:

How do I find out if my relative had life insurance with Assurant?

Why is my bank account being debited by Assurant?

You may have been billed for renters insurance or an extended warranty sold to you through one of our retail partners. Contact us for more information about your specific charge.

I was solicited about a job at Assurant through an instant messaging service. Is this outreach legitimate?

Assurant does not solicit potential job applicants or initiate a job interview or offer via instant message. Assurant also will not ask for any financial or credit history, nor require any software to be purchased or request a check or cash as part of the job application process. If you are solicited in the manner described above or receive any such requests from a person or entity claiming to be Assurant or a representative of Assurant,  please contact us. Any jobs posted by Assurant on the internet may be accessed through jobs.assurant.com, which lists all current job openings. 

I currently have major medical coverage through Assurant Health. What is happening to my coverage?

On June 10, 2015, Assurant announced an exit from the health insurance marketplace to focus on housing and lifestyle specialty protection products and services. Assurant will wind down its major medical operations and will not participate in the next Affordable Care Act open enrollment period beginning in November 2015. 

In June 2015, Assurant Health mailed letters regarding this change to Individual/Family major medical plan and Employer (Group Fully Insured) plan policyholders. Starting in October 2015 and continuing into 2016, Assurant Health will be mailing letters 60 days in advance of the plan’s termination date. If you received one of these letters, it is a notice of an upcoming termination date for your major medical plan.

Assurant Health will continue to service your plan until the termination date noted in your letter. This notice doesn’t change your coverage or benefits as long as your plan is active. Assurant Health may continue to reach out to you to share options for your health and wellness or for other reasons related to your plan. To keep your plan active until your policy’s termination date, you must continue to pay your premiums.

Are there any changes to my Supplemental coverage through Assurant Health at this time? Can I still buy Supplemental coverage?

On Oct. 1, 2015, Assurant Health’s parent company, Assurant, Inc., announced it had completed the sale of certain assets and business lines to National General Holdings Corporation. National General will acquire Assurant Health’s existing supplemental and self-funded business lines.

At this time, there are no changes to your supplemental plan(s), and any supplemental plans you have will remain active as long as you pay your premium. You may continue to use your supplemental plans as long as they are active. You will be notified in advance of any changes that may impact these plans. 

If you're looking for Supplemental Coverage or self-funded program, these plans are still available for purchase. Are there any changes to my employee benefits coverage provided through Assurant Employee Benefits at this time? Can I still buy employee benefits through Assurant Employee Benefits? 

On Sept. 9, 2015, Assurant announced that it had entered into a definitive agreement to sell its employee benefits business to Sun Life Financial. Assurant Employee Benefits will continue to provide exceptional customer service, sell policies and meet all claims, benefits, and broker commission responsibilities throughout the transition period.
